about

BABY MOUTH/BABY SOUNDS
As newborns, the mouth is a primary source of connection to the world - one that ensures basic survival and health. As such, this connection is one of our first ways of knowing ourselves and interacting with our environment. We use our mouth to bring us nourishment, to sense and connect with our care-givers, and to communicate sounds of distress and contentment. Because of these vital beginnings, returning to exploring the mouth and some of the first sounds each of us once made, can bring a renewed connection to ourself that is in some ways more primitive, but in other ways a more advanced. For most of us, all of the subsequent years of effortful “mouthing off” have taken their toll, but we can return to that simpler, softer organization of the mouth and maintain it as much as is possible while still executing the the adult mouth-tasks we also need to survive today. There is no need to sacrifice the suppleness of the baby mouth completely when chewing, talking and even singing. We, and our mouths, can be both soft and strong, relaxed and precise.

Not only will this ability make your speaking and singing more comfortable and effective, it will bring more ease and pleasure to your everyday life experience - in and out of your mouth.
